Balderdash, a play written by CJ Willette produced by Hamster Pants’ Productions as a staged reading.

Thank you to the cast that took a chance on me, the audience that uplifted me, and the support I received from colleagues coast to coast. This was my first professional workshop experience. Below is a synopsis:

By 2099, humanity has become extinct due to environmental catastrophe. Pollution has gained sentience and an imperishable city named Metroplia rises under the rule of these synthetic beings. Mortar, the CEO of the Urban Planning Agency has lost faith in his daughter Pistol’s ability to succeed him in leadership. In order to light a fire under her, he hires mysterious prodigy Loofah as a potential trainee for the throne. Tension erupts as foliage begins to appear throughout their concrete utopia. Pistol, Loofah, and their coworker Chane must put their heads together to solve this (perceived) crisis while also navigating social politics and coming-of-age introspection. Eventually, Loofah’s secret mission is revealed; As one of the last humans on Earth, she has been proactively planting seeds (literally) within the community to restore the environment and allow humanity to thrive again. As Loofah and Pistol’s worlds collide, the battle for the city’s future sparks a connection neither of them expected. What’s considered fair when the concept of love infiltrates war?
